Dreama was interviewed by Interview Magazine and it featured a new photoshoot!

ALEX CHAPMAN: Hi Dreama, how are you?

DREAMA WALKER: I’m good, Alex. And you?

CHAPMAN: I’m good, thanks. Congratulations on the show! Tell me about how you got involved.

WALKER: It was over a year ago in January. I was in LA randomly—I lived in New York at the time—and I went in for the audition. It was with the producers, and it went really well and felt like a super perfect fit. When I get nervous, I get word vomit, and it was particularly bad that day, so after we were finished I was giving them a little anecdote about driving in LA and how I didn’t want to offend anyone, and they were cracking up. I was like, “I am June! I’m absolutely her and she is me and this makes perfect sense.” Then I kinda chuckled, walked out, and didn’t think anything of it. But I ended up getting the part.

CHAPMAN: You mentioned the audition was over a year ago. What has that wait been like?

WALKER: Oh my gosh, the wait has been excruciating. Nothing’s worse than telling your family you got a pilot, hearing the pilot got picked up, and then finding out it’s not in the fall lineup. But I think that’s actually really great, because now that we’re airing in the spring, we don’t have to compete with like 50 other brand-new shows. I feel like the network is totally behind the show, and it’s so great to have it coming to fruition.

Krysten Ritter and Dreama Walker star in the buzzed about comedy series “Don’t Trust The B—- in Apartment 23″ and the two actresses say not only are audiences in for a lot of laughs, they might be shocked at what their characters do each episode.

“We’re going to shock you,” Walker told OnTheRedCarpet.com correspondent George Pennaccio about the series, which premieres on April 11.

Walker said, “The show is very up on pop culture and addresses a lot of issues about being young and living in New York, which is something both Krysten and I have experienced.”

Dreama Walker’s Ultimate Middle School Revenge

Apr 10 • by Ann • Comments OffInterviews

Being a teenager is universally awkward, but had Dreama Walker been privy to future success, cliques, rumors and the perils of puberty would have been a total breeze. “It’s like if my 11-year-old self could have conjured this up in my imagination, middle school would have been a lot easier,” the Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 star tells ELLE.

Walker is, of course, gushing about working with none other than Dawson Leery, the square-jawed Romeo to our collective adolescent, braces-adorned, Juliet. ”He is super, great, funny, wonderful and talented and we are pleased as punch to have him.”

James van der Beek, who plays a sardonic version of himself on the new show, is just one of the unexpected elements to the surprisingly hilarious (and zeitgeist-y) comedy, premiering Wednesday at 9:30PM EST on ABC. ”We are constantly cracking up on set and at table reads,” Walker chirps from her West Hollywood homestead (apartment number redacted). “It’s always a race to be like, ‘This part is amazing.’” As for whether or not the sweet-looking actress has trouble channeling her own bitchy side, she says, “I am in love with girls that are bad and naughty and badass, and a little selfish,” before adding, “but I like to watch from a respectful distance!”

“I just can’t believe it’s a show on ABC,” Walker said. And with recurring jokes like, “Ducking behind a ‘chubbo,’” and a whip cream bikini popping up in episode one, neither can we!

Ritter may have the flashier role, but the show wouldn’t work nearly as well without Walker, who played quite a memorable bad girl herself as the conniving teenage back-stabber Becca in “The Good Wife.” As it turns out, the actress is a lot more like June in real life, however.

“I told the producers how I’m always apologizing for everything, and I want to be friends with everybody, and I don’t want anyone to get mad at me, and they said, ‘Wow, that’s June in a nutshell,’” Walker recalls. “June is an extremely bright, assertive young lady, very much a go-getter, and she has great morals and wants to please everyone, but there comes a point where she is not a pushover.”

As a big “Breaking Bad” fan, Walker says she came to her new role a little intimidated by the chameleonlike Ritter, who can handle both comedy and drama with ease, but the two actresses quickly hit it off and fell into a natural character rhythm together.

“Our chemistry works because Krysten has a side to her that is definitely Chloe, and I have a side to me that is definitely June,” Walker says. “She has a great sense of humor and came up with a lot of things in the show on the fly, and we just work very well together because we’re both very passionate about comedy. We’re totally committed, and there were days when we both looked like maniacs because we were throwing ourselves into it 110 percent. Hopefully it’s going to pay off.”

Los Angeles TV Insider | Examiner.com Interview

Apr 8 • by Ann • Comments OffInterviews

Dreama Walker wasn’t allowed to watch Dawson’s Creek when she was growing up, but even she understands the magnitude of what it means to sit next to James Van Der Beek, let alone work alongside him on her new ABC comedy, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. She didn’t have the context to crush on him way back when when so many other girls her age were, but her character of June certainly did– and may still be crushing on him a bit now. LA TV Insider Examiner caught up with Walker in Los Angeles earlier this year to chat about her new show.

LA TV Insider Examiner: The pilot of Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, to me, felt like a short film in a lot of ways. We know who these people are, and we know how this initial roommate conflict is resolved. So where does it go in episode two?

Dreama Walker: I can tell you that June, she has only ever been with Stephen, so she starts dating. She starts meeting new guys and meeting new people and she goes through a lot of first experiences with Chloe, and Chloe helps her through it. And that’s really fun and fascinating, I think.

A show featuring two single girls– I imagine they will be going out a lot, trying to meet different guys.

D.W.: It’s hilarious. There’s actually a whole episode dedicated to that…she’s trying to teach me how to pick up guys, and it’s really funny. Their methods and tactics are very different, and you know, June definitely loves to experiment with being like the cool girl.

Tampa’s Dreama Walker lands starring role in new comedy series

Apr 8 • by Ann • Comments OffInterviews

Dreama Walker never considered auditioning for the role of the “B—-” in the new series “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23.”

Sure, the actress can play a bad girl with the best of them (she was the conniving high-schooler Becca on CBS’s “The Good Wife”), but she relishes her new role as the more amiable June because, she says, she sees a bit of herself in the character.

“There’s definitely a sliver of myself in June,” Walker, a Tampa native, says enthusiastically about the role she landed over a year ago. “She’s very driven; naïve in the best way; a quirky, empathetic, sweet person who sometimes misreads things, gets impulsive and jumps into things. But she always sees the best in people.”

The midseason-replacement comedy, which debuts at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on ABC, follows June (Dreama) as she moves to New York and winds up living with Chloe (Krysten Ritter), a roommate who proves to be, you guessed it, the B—- in the series.

While the B-word may make some people uncomfortable, it’s not meant to be derogatory, Walker says.

“As a woman, it’s certainly not my favorite word, but in this sense, (Chloe) is an assertive, super-get-ahead, take-charge woman,” says Walker, 25. “When women take on the role of a man, sometimes they’ll get called that word. Chloe puts herself first and she’s selfish, but it’s not meant to be bad at all.”
